Hello and Happy Friday!
I hope you have great plans for the weekend.
Well, here in Ontario they are allowing stores to re-open (at 15% capacity) and people can drink on patios again. Great news.
I'd like to talk a bit about self-help books today. I personally have benefitted from them. I needed this genre of book to figure out a few things in my life and they helped. If something is bothering you or you feel that your the only one going through tough times, I can almost guarantee that somebody experienced the same thing and wrote a book about their experience. Whether they are doctors or otherwise, they might be able to help you. And it doesn't always have to be about mental health issues. Maybe you want to start a business, walk across a province or state, learn how to fix bicycles etc. I'll bet that someone has written about all of those things. As an example, I used to (and am still working on it) spend too much time thinking and talking about the past and future, rarely about the present. A friend recognized that about me and recommended a book called The Power of Now and its sequel (the one I liked best) A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckart Tolle. These two books helped me a lot. Are they perfect? No. Did they help me? Yes. The thing about self books is that you don't have to agree with everything the author says. Read a bunch of them and cherry pick which parts you feel are the best for you.
Have a great weekend!
